In a dime store novella style they face slavers, hired gunmen, and unscrupulous villains, while creating a legacy that inspires others, as well as themselves to believe they can overcome all odds together. Joined by a variety of friends and allies, becoming a family that transcends their diverse differences, they invest into to a future together during a time of change for the country.
The story of the Valances is one of facing fear and finding courage, conquering loneliness and heartbreak by discovering true love in unlikely surroundings, along with how important one event can be in shaping our lives. It tells about a trying to do the right thing for the right reasons, how someone can become a hero if they rise to the occasion, and hopefully this will inspire others in the same regards.
