Bible Survey: Old Testament Studies introduces
students to the major books, themes, covenants, people, events,
and redemptive movements of the Old Testament.
Students will study creation, the fall, the promise of
redemption, the patriarchs, Israel's deliverance from Egypt, the
Law, the tabernacle, the priesthood, the sacrificial system, the
wilderness journey, the conquest of Canaan, the judges, the
kingdom of Israel, the divided kingdom, exile, restoration, the
prophets, and the promise of the Messiah.
This course teaches the Old Testament as part of the unified
story of God's redemptive purpose, pointing forward to Jesus
Christ. Students will learn to read the Old Testament with
reverence, context, and Christ-centered understanding.
The Old Testament is not disconnected from the Christian faith.
It prepares the way for the coming of Christ, reveals God's
covenant faithfulness, exposes humanity's need for redemption,
and points forward to the fulfillment found in Jesus Christ.
