Long ago a wood sprite lives alone on the Maine coast. He wonders why he is unique and what lies over the distant horizon. With the help of his best friends, a bear and a porpoise, he travels inland to peaceful blueberry barrens, to an immense rock in storm tossed seas, and a seductively pleasant tropical island. In the course of his travels he learns much about the world and himself from a bold fox, a well-traveled sea bird and a wise old Iguana. He returns to his home in the Maine woods where he encounters a beautiful but elusive fairy princess.
