This is a "novelette" based on the story of Jesus (renamed Joshua). It tells of his connection with the beloved disciple (Lazara) and this disciple's younger sister Maria. It was Maria who washed the feet of Joshua and asked forgiveness after she had eloped with a Gentile (strictly forbidden in Judaism). It was Joshua's forgiveness of Maria that triggered his betrayal by Judase. The second half of the book shows gospel support for this interpretation...
