Behind the Diet: Integrative Nutrition Strategies for Celiac Disease, IBS, and Functional Gut Conditions bridges personal experience with clinical insight to help better recognize and support patients struggling with chronic gastrointestinal symptoms. Rather than focusing solely on food restrictions, this book explores the systemic patterns, frequent misdiagnoses, and overlooked contributors common in GI conditions. Behind the Diet offers a structured, evidence-based framework for identifying red flags, guiding assessments, and improving outcomes through a more integrative lens.
Author Jessica Martinez, RDN, understands how overwhelming and frustrating the search for answers can be-especially when symptoms persist despite every effort. After nearly a decade of misdiagnoses and being told it was "just IBS," she was finally diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2015. That experience ignited her commitment to helping others uncover the root causes of chronic digestive issues. A graduate of the Coordinated Program in Nutrition and Dietetics at Loma Linda University, she brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her work. Martinez practices in diverse healthcare settings, including hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), long-term care (LTC), and private practice.
