Before You Know Me

By Brittney Sahin

A fresh start leads a former elite operative straight into a small-town murder investigation in an emotionally charged romantic suspense by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brittney Sahin.

Haunted by the blood on his hands, Emmett Locke has left his old life behind and wants nothing more than to keep moving forward. But when an assignment brings him to Delilah Monroe's hometown, where he rents her cottage, he's soon pulled into a mystery he never expected. Her brother is behind bars for a murder he confessed to committing. Yet Delilah doesn't believe he did it. And Emmett is beginning to think she's right.

Delilah has already watched the life she planned fall apart. Now she's losing her brother, too. The last thing she expects to find in her mysterious new tenant is hope. Emmett insists he isn't good for her--that he's dangerous, not safe, a man she shouldn't trust. To Delilah, he's an unfailing gentleman who steps between her and danger without hesitation. And possibly the one person who can help her uncover the truth.

As questions lead to threats and their search for answers turns deadly, Emmett takes Delilah to his family's ranch in Texas, the last place he wants to be. Mercy Crossing holds secrets of its own, and the danger following them is closer than either of them realizes.

While the truth could set Delilah's brother free, keeping her alive in the process will force Emmett to confront everything he believes about himself. He'll have to decide whether his past will always make him a killer--or if the man he's become is finally worthy of being her protector.
