Our lives are but a short journey; during which we may learn about ourselves, and the world in which we find ourselves. The voyage of life is a unique experience for each of us, and in my view it is better to arrive at life's inescapable destination with some splendid memories to revisit, than curse impotently against the inevitable dying of the light. When I was a young man, sex mixed with music, beauty and curiosity was the only deity I needed. I need it less now as my body ages and decays. I still appreciate beauty and music, and I am even able with the help of chemical assistance to enjoy something of the sex that I enjoyed as a young man. But I also know that for me all this is ending. I have come to appreciate that I can know nothing of the Divine; after all, I am only human, but through my passions I have glimpsed the Divine light which surrounds us. My life has taught me to enjoy my consciousness, and marvel at the miracle of my senses and my ability to perceive what is all around me; under my finger-tips, on the end of my penis or before my eyes. That is, I am able to appreciate that the greatest wonder is that we all know that we will die one day, yet each of us continues to live as if we were immortal.
