Fantastic Tips, Secrets and Short Cuts!

Shelly Ballestero, former beauty editor for Lifestyle magazine and beauty expert for CBN.com, offers fresh insight and encouragement to women of all ages who want to look their best. While showing us how to focus first and foremost on our inner beauty and see ourselves the way God sees us, Shelly also offers savvy secrets and tips on how to make the most of our outer appearance. By exposing the lies and motives of the media, Shelly motivates women to believe in themselves and appreciate their unique, God-created beauty. In Chapter Eleven, Alleviate Stinkin' Thinkin', Shelly teaches her readers to change their thoughts and attitudes towards themselves and change their thinking to reflect God's thoughts about beauty. Encouraging scriptures referencing beauty are sprinkled throughout the book along with tips on healthy hair, how to live luxuriously for less, expert eyebrow techniques, and steps to a flawless face. Shelly also details for us the differences in foundations, the history of lipstick, tips on looking younger and knowing your body shape. One of my favorite chapters was The Pampered Pantry which offers beauty treatments with natural ingredients. Most interesting was the "pick me up" facial using coffee grounds, which I promptly tried myself! For those who are looking to go "green", there is plenty of information on organic and all natural foods, supplements and makeup in this book as well. Shelly also tells us the ingredients in cosmetics that are making us sick, and gives us a Top Ten list of things to stay away from. Included in this book are several quotes and interviews by Nicole C. Mullen, Kim Alexis, Lisa Bevere, Tammy Trent, Anita Renfroe and more. In Chapter Eight, Clothing Essentials for Potential, readers are encouraged to do their homework and know their body type in order to choose clothes that flatter their shape. According to the author, you don't have to lose your style; you just have to make it work for you. In this chapter readers will also find tips on knowing which colors work for them and how to shop for clothes that fit properly. Shelly addresses the hot topic of modesty and quotes Danielle Kimmey, former member of Out of Eden who says "our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost, and they need to be protected...........when the sexy comes into your wardrobe, you've gone too far.........we have a responsibility to ourselves." Shelly includes some guidelines which readers can use to see if various articles of clothing pass the modesty "test". I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in fashion and health, and for those who want biblical balance as well as natural beauty.

This book has everything a girl could want... beauty tips, fashion, nutrition, makeup, skincare... all of it! All while glorifying the name of God and celebrating the fact that each and everyone is unique as God made you. I wish it had 10 more chapters! This book is well written and chock full of knowlege for any girl looking or a few tips on how to look her best!

FABULOUS RECIPES FOR HOMEMADE SKIN CARE

This book has so many great beauty tips. My favorite chapter is the "Pampered Pantry" which offers several facial masks that you can make out of natural,easy to find ingredients, like honey, lemon juice and oatmeal. But what I love most is that the book covers areas that most beauty books do not - like how our inner thoughts affect our outer beauty. Beauty By God taps into our spiritual self and helps us discover who we were really meant to be in God's perfect plan for our lives. This is a great gift for any woman going through a personal struggle.

Must Have

This book is a must have for women who want to be excellent embassadors of the Lord. The world is influenced by outer appearances while women of faith are focused on the influence from within our hearts. Shelly teaches us how to have balance in both inner and outer beauty so that we can have a positive impact on our world, and in our own lives. Her friend to friend conversational style makes difficult concepts easy to understand and apply.
