At this high school, instead of jocks and nerds, the students are divided into predators and prey. At a high school where the students are literally divided into predators and prey, friendships maintain the fragile peace. Who among them will become a Beastar--a hero destined to lead in a society naturally rife with mistrust? One night at Cherryton Academy, an herbivore student is brutally murdered. Among the members of the Drama Club, the herbivores' suspicions naturally turn to their carnivore classmates... The prime suspect? Gray wolf Legoshi. But he wouldn't hurt a fly. Or would he? Will dwarf rabbit Haru bring out the beast in him? Or are his feelings for her...something else?
10/10 I couldn't stop reading it. The main story is Legoshi trying to hide from his own carnivous instincts. The racism and prejudice storyline is set up within the first 10 pages very well. While every carnivor desires meat, not everyone acts on those instincts. They surpress them. I love how everyone is a complex character. Legoshi is drawn terrifyingly! It adds so much to how others see him VS how he wants to be perceved. There are a few smaller comics near the end and it's just an okay thing to do to ask a larger animal to give you a ride if you're tiny! That is clearly a weird thing. However, I love how it adds to the world building. -SPOILERS AHEAD- When Legoshi cages Haru by the fountian, I loved how depressing her thoughts were. "If you're going to devour me, swallow me whole. Because I don't want them to find out." This is in reference to her being bullied. I personally can relate to these thoughts due to my own history with bullying. Haru herself is a very complex character. She is a tiny dwarf rabbit. She mentions how men and most carnivors look down at her in general. A lot of women are viewed like this and I'm glad to see it explored.
