I bought this book along with a few others to study for the PTCE. The layout of the book is really good. A lot of common drugs have their own pages with the essential information about them (common dosages, indication, etc.). I've had to look up several over the past 2.5 months I've been self-studying and it's been a really helpful book. It includes pictures of most of the drugs on their respective pages, which is really helpful as well. I do have one caution: If you are studying for the PTCE, and you want a book to make drug index cards from, don't get this book solely for that. It is a really good book to have along with others, but if you use the charts in this book to make index cards from, you'll end up trying to memorize a lot of less-common drugs that you'll probably rarely see in practice. If you want an "index card book", I would recommend The Pharmacy Technician Textbook Workbook & Certification Review. They have a list of the top 200 drugs, which is all you really need to pass the test. That being said, this is a really good book (as in, good enough to go ahead & buy it--it's worth it!) to have around for when you have questions about the drugs and/or how they work. Overall, I really like this book. Just be careful about how you intend to use it.
Basic Pharmacology

"Basic Pharmacology" is a godsend to the the pharmacy technician student and classroom. I find this book to be exceptionally well written in an easy-to-understand format. This format unlike other text books allows the student to visualize medications (photograph) which is not found in other text books of this type. The information provided is the best that I have ever read in a pharmacology book. I think that not only will individuals benefit, college programs will charish this text also.
