Shocked at that its not a best seller

The other two reviews are absolutely correct. I recently checked this book out of my public library and found it to be a very comfortable and complete. Im going to buy it right now. This book absolutely does not skip over any information and is completely comprehensive. I am absolutely shocked that this book is not a 5 star best seller. If you are simple just beginning to learn about electronics, this truly is the only book you need.

Leave it at the bookstore...

Although there were some good sections in the book, too much of it delt with material that is not really useful anymore. If you are looking for a book that talks about "tubes" and circuits from the past, this book is for you.

Best Basic Grounding In Electronics I have found

I have been looking for quite awhile for an electronics book that would give a good balance between thoery/mathmatics but also practical knowledge (where a capacitor, inductor, etc. is actually used to build). This book is the best by far I have found for this...it has a great pedogogy to it...Horn is an excellent teacher.I read this book over the weekend, and by the end of it, I was able to build the circuit I needed. This is the perfect book if you goal is to get enough basic knowledge to talk intelligently about the subject but, more important, go our and build something. Additionally, there are a lot of lower level details I can still glean from it by doing a second reading some other time; I recommend this book very, very highly.

Excellent Book, Despite Downfalls

This Book does what the title says it teaches BASIC ELECTRONIC THEORY! It does have typos be careful of that. I recommend it to anyone who wants to see how electronic components work and how electricity is dealt with within the components. Good book to start with if you don't know about electronics.

Despite errors, a great text

I know there are typos and errors in this book, but I have found it by far the most accessible basic electronics text available. The obtuse text that characterizes most "beginner's" books is far more troublesome than a few typos! No, this is not suitable as a handbook for engineers, but it's not intended to be. Get Horowitz and Hill if that's what you're looking for.
