Loved It!

I love mysteries and this was light and different. I want more, more, more books by Jim Lilliefors, and more of main character Martin Grant...wish he would start a series with Martin Grant...I'd read them all!

Quirky characters, nice atmosphere

I liked the offbeat characters, the understated humor and the atmosphere of the town. The story seemed a little too freewheeling at times, but there were always little surprises that kept me reading.

A Great Beach Book

A perfect book for the beach. And it takes place in Florida! An easy to read mystery, with a sense of humor. Lots of suspects and it keeps you guessing until the end. Try it, you'll like it.

Unusual Characters and Plot

I happened upon this book by accident. (literally) It was lent to me by a friend as I recovered from a broken leg. The plot is wacky but kept me reading and the characters make me wonder about the wisdom of moving to Florida but they peaked my curiosity. If you like mysteries with a little twist of Hitchcock, you'll enjoy this book.

A Great First Novel

Bananaville is an interesting first novel by an accomplished writer. The main character, Martin Grant, is especially interesting as he adjusts to a new life and tries to solve a complicated mystery, all the while encountering sometimes quirky and sometimes humorous individuals in his path. Mr. Lilliefors has excellent descriptive abilities. One can feel the moist Florida air and smell the night blooming flowers. It is an easy read and entertaining till the end. I look forward to the next novel by James Lilliefors.
