Thanksgiving has come to the cozy mountain town of Oliver's Crossroads, North Carolina, and Library Director Helen Bennett is looking forward to a nice, long holiday weekend.

There'll be the Great Pumpkin Bakeoff at Lake Sneed on Wednesday, which she and her soon-to-be adopted son, Ian, are entering together. Then on Thursday, she and Adam will be hosting a Thanksgiving feast for all of their friends. Friday will bring a trip to Hal's Christmas Tree Farm.

There will be plenty of time to relax by the fire, read a whole stack of good books, and nap between slices of pie. But before all the fun gets underway, Helen and Annie have some wedding planning to do.

Annie and Walter are anticipating their spring wedding, and it's time to choose the perfect spot for their reception. When Helen and Annie stumble across a body at a potential venue, they'll have to join forces with Detective George and their friends in the birding society to try to solve the mystery before Thanksgiving.
