Blood, gunsmoke, and dark humor...

These are the words that best characterize all of Butts' novels. Lucius Dodge is a young Texas Ranger who along with the senior partner stumbles into a violent family-feud while searching for a missing girl. I like the way Butts keeps the story moving with plenty of gunfire and characters who actually get shot up. The dialogoue is snappy and well worth the quick read. I've enjoyed Butts' stories much more than several of the better known authors who usually pen whip about a dozen books a year. Bad Blood is no exception to the others. If you like Cotton Smith or Elmore Leonard, you'll like Butts. If I had one complaint about the books, it needs a better cover.
