Backdraft: The Bad Boy of Engine Company 22
At Engine Company 22, trust can mean the difference between life and death-and desire can burn down everything they've worked for.
Firefighter Maya Ruiz transfers to Engine 22 with eight years of experience, an eye on a technical-rescue position, and no patience for Jake "Jax" Brennan. He's talented, fearless, infuriatingly charming-and notorious for treating rules like suggestions.
Their rivalry begins with a four-second defeat and soon becomes the hottest competition in the firehouse. Maya can match Jax in every drill, challenge him at every turn, and recognize a deadly fire before the first flame appears. But the closer they become, the more dangerous their attraction grows.
One unforgettable off-duty night is all it takes for rumors to race through the department. Jax's reputation only adds to his legend. Maya's hard-earned judgment and professionalism are suddenly called into question.
For the first time, Jax sees the real cost of the reckless image he has spent years creating. If he wants to earn Maya's trust, he must learn that protecting someone does not mean making their choices for them-and that courage sometimes means standing still.
Then Engine 22 responds to a ventilation-starved restaurant fire ready to explode. With the crew's lives on the line, Jax must do the one thing that has never come naturally: stop, listen, and trust Maya's call.
They may survive the backdraft. But will Jax change before the pressure between them destroys any chance they have left?
Backdraft: The Bad Boy of Engine Company 22 is a steamy, emotionally charged firefighter romance featuring workplace rivals, explosive chemistry, a fiercely capable heroine, bad-boy redemption, high-stakes rescues, and the unforgettable found family of Engine 22.
