Ba Ji Quan: Chinese Martial Arts

Ba Ji Quan is one of the types of Chinese martial art. The term 'Ba Ji' originally derived from ancient China's geographical concepts. For example, one concept said: 'Between Heaven and Earth, there are nine States and eight Poles.' At the time, Ancient China was divided into nine states, and the poles represented the most remote locations beyond China. The phrase has been repurposed in Chinese martial arts, where Ba Ji Quan hypothesizes that 'the released power can reach four faces and eight directions.'
Ba Ji Quan is classified as a short beating boxing method. Its movements generally pursue hard, fierce, simple, and rapid styles. In hand fighting techniques, it emphasizes 'inch intercept, ' 'inch joint locking, ' 'hard beat, ' and 'hard open.' In addition, the general characteristics of this style emphasize closing distance, supporting with the elbow, squeezing, striking using the body, collapsing, and shaking. Ba Ji Quan's power generates from the heel, moves through the waist, and manifests on the fingers. Therefore, the explosive force is vast and has rich technical characteristics. It is said: 'shaking the arms can topple the sky, stomping can collapse the nine states.'
Ba Ji Quan uses 'six big openings, ' 'eight critical movements' as the technical core. The routine draws from the subjects of Ba Ji small frame, Ba Ji Quan, six elbow heads, hard-Gong Ba Ji, Ba Ji new frame, and miscellaneous others. This book includes just a few basic practice methods and entry routines: 'Jin Gang eight forms, six large openings, and Ba Ji small frame.' This will build a solid foundation for beginners to learn more about Ba Ji Quan further.
