The perfect gift for someone with post-break-up blues

I came across this book while looking for a present for a dear friend who divorced a few months ago. She's feeling depressed and, well, hopeless. This was the perfect book. It's poetic but easy reading, spiritual but fun, lighthearted and serious. I've been happily married for 22 years (at least happy every other week) and it was a wake-up call to me as well. I think I had better apply a little romance to my marriage. I think a previous reviewer called it a valentine. Great idea. Give it to a friend on that day of the year when it is most miserable not to have a lover - Valentine's Day!
This is a rare find, a real gem!

I bought this out of curiousity, based on the previous two reviews. It sounded as if it could be worth having. And so it is. I have just ordered two more as gifts. This is not New Age fluff, nor is it a predictable formula attempt at shallow advice. This little book is sheer delight, thoughtful beautiful, moving and full of surprises. It serves as both a personal treat and an exquisite gift. I highly recommend "Awaiting a Lover".Treat yourself and/or someone you care about.
Fun! But sort out the marketing ....

Why is this in the "New Age" area? This is a funny, beatifully illustrated, literate read, a real treasure. This is no fey cookbook of spurious promises and dubious magic. It's too ironic for that, laughing and playful, literate and rich. A great little find, tell your friends - whichever planet they are from!
Preparing to be Found...

This is book about hope. It is small in physical size but very large in size when considering its advice and ideas. I read this book one evening while visiting my sister during the Christmas holidays. While I am not presently awaiting another lover ( I've ended two long term relationships in the last six years ) the magic of love and the prospects for lighting its fire are beautifully painted and worded throughout this treasure. The strength of the book is created from the collection of real experiences of real people. It is not a book written by a psychologist, therapist or radio talkbabble host. It does not contain the fashionable numerology of magazines that promise great change in just [ count'em ] simple steps. The advice and stories are credible, doable and fun. The unique illustrations on each page provide a visual seconding of the ideas. One of my favorite memories is the story of a woman who crunches up all the old love letters and then heads to a local beach where she proceeds to burn them in a trash barrel. A man appears to warm his hands from the newly created fire and begins a conversation and ultimately a relationship with the woman. The fire of passion is created from the ashes of sorrow -- a very powerful message. The message of the book is straightforward and clear. People need to prepare themselves for love. This conjures up thoughts of the lyrics of popular song about finding a lover like --" I'm Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places". It's not about finding it -- its becoming ready to be found. I will keep the little Queen of Hearts in my wallet as a constant reminder of this message until my next loves arrives -- or until I can grow a subtle set of multicolored feathers on my back...Jason Sandstrom Laguna Beach, California
