Cashes in Well on the Hysteria of the Time

Written in 1996, seven or so years after the Cold War ended this Pattinson novel cashed in on the mass hysteria propaganda of the time of Russian nuclear waste and weapons either being sold to enemies of the West or the poor economic Russians having practically no security guarding their surplus. In Avenger of Blood a canister is found on a Scottish beach a couple of days after two Russian shipmates washed up dead. Inside is Uranium waste which has been stolen from a facility in Murmansk, Russia. British agent Ray Challenor much to his dismay is told to leave his new wife, go to Murmansk and investigate. It is not long before a man named Conrad comes into the picture and much to the annoyance of his wife, Challenor has to follow him across the globe to Cuba then Argentina. What he finds in the Chaco region of Argentina would make September 11 look rather insignificant. James Pattinson writes in an old man style where his characters use words that show Pattinson is obviously from a previous generation and not quite down with the lingo of today, but this style does add something unique and enjoyable to his novels.
