Avatar: The Last Airbender – North and South Part Three (Katara and Sokka Protect Their Tribe)

Avatar: The Last Airbender – North and South Part Three begins with Toph, Ho Tun, The Dark One, and Penga being construction workers, metalbending the parts of a new building. Toph saves her students from an avalanche. When Toph’s students complain about never metalbending in the snow before, Toph explains that metalbending was never supposed to be possible in the first place. At the same time, Malina voices her worry about her staying in the Southern Water Tribe to Sokka. Sokka believes they need her to help explain and execute her plans for the Southern Water Tribe and that the protestors will come around when they hear about the plans. Meanwhile, Pakku is having trouble teaching Siku and Sura waterbending. The girls continue to deny what they are. Pakku asks Aang and Katara to come in and assist by demonstrating their waterbending abilities. Aang explains that Katara helped him end the war. The girls say they would have acted nicer to Katara if they had known. Siku and Sura disclose that their mother never wanted them to reveal that they were waterbenders for fear of the Fire Nation capturing them. The girls run away, refusing to waterbend for Aang or Katara. Hakoda enters the room, mentioning how difficult it can be to teach, mainly when he taught Sokka to use a boomerang for the first time. Hakoda thanks Pakku for his bending school, and Pakku’s response is hilarious. Pakku reminisces about the difficulty of teaching the Avatar, who wouldn’t pay attention during class. On the street, Aang, Katara, and Hakoda walk and talk. Hakoda is still injured and walks with a cane, but he claims he feels better. Hakoda speaks about Katara becoming a great healer, observing Team Avatar up close, and the upcoming conference with Fire Lord Zuko and Earth King Kuei. He wishes Team Avatar would be present during the meeting. Katara reminds Hakoda of the risks of asking all nations to help them rebuild the Southern Water Tribe. Hakoda believes they can work together, like how an Air Nomad and Southern Water Tribe waterbender worked together to try and make a difference for two little girls. Later, Fire Lord Zuko and Earth King Kuei arrive with their guards and Bosco on their airships. Earth King Kuei is not accustomed to the cold or the cold atmosphere of the protestors. Bosco protects him from the cold. It’s funny how Earth King Kuei asks Zuko if he wants to join them, but Zuko politely declines. Sokka greets the two royalties. It’s cute when Zuko and Sokka hug. Zuko voices his concerns about being in the South, considering what the past war has done to them. Sokka takes some heat for openly accepting foreigners into the South. In the meantime, Gilak stands by his cell door, asking the soldier guarding him which side he is on. The soldier believes Hakoda’s peaceful vision for the future can be achieved. Galik unlocks his cell door with the key the female officer, Lirin, gave him and knocks out the guard. Galik releases Thod “for the Tribe.” Inside the meeting room, Hakoda explains Malina’s plans to Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, and Earth King Kuei. They plan to build new harbors for the Southern Water Tribe and have embassies of each Nation at the harbors, including the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation. Zuko offers funds for the project and any other assistance they may need, while Earth King Kuei wants to focus on helping his own people who are struggling. Katara finds Kuei’s wording insulting and begins to argue with him. The conference is interrupted by a Southern Water Tribe guard informing them about Galik’s escape. Galik enters the room after attacking the guard. Hakoda is shocked to learn that Lirin is an informant. Galik wants the foreigners out. Zuko firebends at him in response to Galik’s animosity. While Zuko handles Galik, Katara takes Lirin, reminding her of her oath to Hakoda. Sokka has a boomerang battle with one of Galik’s soldiers. Aang airbends to protect Earth King Kuei. Toph uses her space rock to slap one soldier. Team
