After attempting to kidnap Katara and Sokka, Southerner Gilak leaves a haunting note for Hakoda: "Soon you will see the truth, chieftain". The vow leaves everyone on edge--including Katara, who remains wary of the two tribes' integration. Avatar: The Last Airbender – North and South Part Two (The War Between The Tribes Begins)

Avatar: The Last Airbender – North and South Part Two takes place in the south, near the haunted shipwreck. Hakoda leads his team of waterbender soldiers to Galik’s secret underground caverns. Galik knew that Hakoda would come for him, so he disappeared with his followers, only leaving a message behind: “Soon I will show you the truth, Chieftan.” Meanwhile, Katara, Sokka, Malina, and Maliq tour the Southern Water Tribe factory. Katara voices her disapproval of Hakoda’s relationship with Malina to Sokka. Malina must summarize Maliq’s speech about extracting the largest deposit of oil to use for engine fuel. The fuel will power machines non-benders can use to become equal to benders. Again, Sokka is all for the change that Malina and Maliq are trying to bring to the Southern Water Tribe, but Katara is not as eager. Malina introduces their new executive partner, Toph. Katara and Sokka are overjoyed to see Toph again. Malina and Maliq hold a festival with the guests of honor, Katara, Sokka, and Toph. While Sokka and Toph go to play the poundy-poundy game, Katara meets Pakku’s two newest students, Siku and Sura, who claim not to be waterbenders, but they waterbend when they believe Pakku isn’t watching. Meanwhile, Hakoda has his soldiers standing guard at the city entrance, prepared for an attack from Galik. Hakoda doesn’t know that Galik and his soldiers are drilling beneath the city. Katara meets with Hakoda and asks why he didn’t tell Sokka and her about his relationship with Malina. Hakoda tries to explain, but Katara doesn’t trust Malina, believing she is up to something nefarious. Hakoda explains the difference between being blinded by love and genuine love, where people make sacrifices for their partner. Shortly after, Aang and Appa arrive. Aang and Katara have a sweet reunion. Katara asks about Zuko, and Aang tells her what happened in the Fire Nation. Hakoda and Katara catch Aang up on the latest events, such as Hakoda becoming the Chieftain and needing extra security during the festival. As Aang and Katara walk to the festival, she believes she should be as supportive of Hakoda’s relationship as he is of hers. While Sokka and Aang play the festival games, Katara thanks Malina for inviting them to the festival. Malina is excited about the opportunity to meet the Avatar, but Maliq pulls Malina aside for their announcement. Toph is forced to marvel at Sokka’s beanbag-tossing skills. It’s funny how Toph is stuck holding all the stuffed animals that Sokka and Toph win. It’s cute how Momo hugs a tiny stuffed animal of himself. During Malina’s speech about bringing the Southern Water Tribe into a new era, Galik’s people drill up into the festival. Toph warned everyone to move before the drill reached the surface because she could sense its vibrations. Galik makes his speech, claiming the Northern Water Tribe is trying to steal the oil from the Southern Water Tribe. Galik shows Maliq’s briefcase as proof. He also states that the Northern Water Tribe wants to make the Southern Water Tribe a colony of the North. Malina admits it was their original plan until she got to know the people in the South. Maliq confirms that the plans remain true for him. Maliq believes that the Northern Water Tribe should possess the oil for the future of their culture. Malina demands her brother to stop speaking numerous times, but he won’t, making things worse. Malina agrees to leave the South and cancel their plans immediately, but Galik doesn’t agree. Team Avatar marches into the battle between the North and the South. Sokka (AKA Captain Boomerang, according to Toph) and Toph prevent the two sides from killing one another, while Aang and Katara rescue Malina and Maliq. When Hakoda hears about the battle, he and his soldiers rush to help. Noa makes a stupid mistake by attacking Katara when she is trying to protect his bosses. Malina and Maliq slip away from the battle while Thod asks Katara if she understands the meaning behind his story now. Katara r
