Automate It Once: Power Automate for Complete Beginners: Stop Repeating the Same Tasks Every Week, Without Writing Code

You already know which task you would automate first.

The one you do every Monday. The one that takes an hour and adds nothing.
The one you have meant to fix for two years.

You probably watched a video about it. Four minutes in, the presenter opened
a menu with eleven options, assumed you knew which one to pick, and lost you.
You closed the tab and went back to the clicking.

This book assumes you know nothing. Not "nothing about Power Automate"
nothing. If you can use email and a spreadsheet, you have every prerequisite
it requires. There is no code to write.

By page fifty-eight you will have a flow that runs whether or not you are at
your desk. By the end you will have built, tested, and handed over a complete
invoice intake system that receives, validates, files, routes for approval,
records the decision, reports weekly, alerts you when it fails, and survives
being run twice.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DO
- Find the work actually worth automating and skip the rest
- Know what your existing license already lets you build, before you build it
- Create a flow from a blank screen
- Read a run history and find out why a flow failed
- Work with SharePoint lists, Excel tables, files, and Microsoft Forms
- Write expressions that fix text, dates, and numbers
- Build an approval that waits for a human and records the answer
- Make a flow fail loudly instead of silently
- Test it properly, including the cases you hope never happen
- Schedule a report that builds itself and stays quiet when there is nothing
to report

NO SCREENSHOTS. THAT IS DELIBERATE.
Screenshots go stale the week Microsoft changes a button, and they only ever
show you my screen. Instead, every step tells you exactly what to click using
the words printed on your own screen, what will change when you click it, and
one specific detail to look for that only appears if it worked. You can check
yourself at every step which is more than a picture gives you.

EVERY FACT WAS CHECKED
Every action name, field name, error message, and licensing fact was verified
against Microsoft's published documentation, and the sources are listed at the
back of the book. Where Microsoft's own material disagrees with itself, or
where behavior depends on how your organization set up its tenant, the book
says so and gives you a five-minute check instead of a guess.

THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR YOU IF
you are studying for the PL-900 or PL-200, you want to build AI agents, you
already build flows and want enterprise architecture, or your workplace does
not use Microsoft products. It says so on page one, and it means it.

You are not short of information about automation. You are short of a
sequence, and of someone telling you what to do when it breaks. That is what
this is.

You will finish able to do the thing, not able to talk about the thing.
