The term "autism" is used by the media, academics, and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual as if it were a single disorder or a single disorder throughout a range. However, autism differs from all other disorders in a number of ways. Despite extensive research efforts, no single cause or treatment has been identified, including a single brain defect that causes it, a single medicine that affects it, or a single cause or remedy itself. The scientific research on autism's causes, symptoms, course, and peaceful coexistence is examined in Austim-friendly parenting. It concludes that there is no such thing as "autism" as a single disorder, which may be alarming. There is a collection of symptoms, but like with fever, they are a result of other causes rather than being a sign of a disease in and of themselves (s). We can only advance research to more precisely understand why these symptoms occur and what the various and varied reasons may be by stopping to think of autism as a singular condition.
