New ACD parents

My husband and I were lucky enough to adopt the perfect dog from our local humane society, a six year old Australian Cattle Dog. We knew nothing about the breed but had heard both positive and negatives from others about the breed. This book explains everything about our dog's behaviors and where the come from. Also, about her care, grooming, and what we wound be in store for if we decided to get a ACD puppy. I high recommend this book to anyone who has or is thinking of getting an ACD.

Very Useful For Us

We bought this book after we adopted a little ACD from an animal shelter in March, 2008. It gives very useful information, and is written for the owner who primarily wants them as a family pet. Probably would not be useful for people who want breeding or ranching type information. We know what to expect because the ACDs demand lots of time, but the rewards are great. Intelligence level is extremely high along with the energy level. All of our future dogs will be ACDs.

Great Book

This is a great book if you plan to get an Australian Cattle Dog (AKA Blue Heeler) or are just curious about this breed of dog. It was very helpful in helpihg me understand how to handle, train and care for my new puppy. As well as explaining the special needs of this breed of dog. Includes many color pictures of these wonderful dogs.

A perfect book for the average ACD pet owner

This book is aimed at the person who owns or plans to own an Australian Cattle Dog as a household pet and companion. It thoroughly covers all aspects of care and training necessary for ACDs living in those circumstances. The book does not purport itself as a training book for professional livestock owner. Those who use this book as a companion guide find it fits the bill beautifully--Richard G. Beauchamp, author.

thoughful and informative

Describes my half breed ACD to a tee. He demands time, time, and more time but the rewards are as great as the book states. I have found a rubber ball that squeaks can keep him happy for hours fetching and running. This book has taught me training ideas I have never seen before and in just one week I can see the results.
