The Dark Lord appears differently to everyone. Some see Him as a proud and glorious Beauty, others as the adversarial Liberator from all forms of slavery, or as the wise Teacher who challenges internalized mental oppressions, or as a Companion in pursuit of Pleasure and Power, or perhaps as a Lokean trickster God, etc. I believe that this lovely prayer book has something that will resonate for EVERY theistic devotee of Satan / Lucifer.
(There's even some blaspheming against a false god (xtianity) in here, and although those prayers aren't for me, they will be appreciated by those who experience Satan in this way.)
Marie Ravensoul's voice as a devotee is considered and mature. The prayers and poems in this book are beautiful to recite out loud, or to quietly contemplate in sustained meditation.
One of the pitfalls of finding prayers and devotions within theistic Satanism, especially online, is a tendency towards pettiness, faux-edginess, politically-motivated victim mentality, a disrespectful concept of our god as the "god of resentment and butthurt" (just NO!) ... or, just plain sloppy writing. This book has NONE of these issues, none.
It is so refreshing not to have to sort and skip past bratty preteen satanist fanfic that I am beginning to cry in gratitude just writing this review.
It is a small volume, just under 200 pages, but unlike so many other self-published pagan books it is PACKED with useful and resonant prayers and guidance. No huge empty spaces, blank pages, massive unreadable editing mistakes, or font size trickery.
Overall this is a respectful, honorable, worthy, and REVERENT prayer book.
Marie Ravensoul's devotion to Satan shines in this essential volume.
May Satan protect and strengthen her, always.
