Nutrition is fundamental during all phases of the lifespan; principally in the milestone phase of adolescence which shows a rapid growth and development in an individual. Stanley Hall said, "Adolescence is when the worst and the best impulses in the human soul struggle against each other for possession" (Grinder, 1969).These impulses are a result of comprehension of their knowledge attitudes and practices towards healthy wellbeing which determines their future welfare in life. One of the important aspects of wellbeing is good nutritional status. There is ample evidence to suggest that good nutrition and lifestyles during adolescence serve as a foundation for well-being in adulthood (Wickham, 2021). Therefore, it is very important to address the nutrition needs of adolescents through a holistic approach. Conventionally, in most developing countries, the nutrition initiatives had been focussing customarily on maternal and child health, whereas, moderately less importance is given to adolescents as they seem to be deceptively "healthy" (WHO, 2006). The International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in 1994 in Cairo highlighted adolescents as a vulnerable group. Post the conference, the subject gained continuing but intense transition to investigate adolescents‟ issues and address their trepidations - social, physical as well as psychological. Explicitly, there is a need to deliberate on adolescent nutritional status within the context of different societies.
