What makes The Art of Mammals even more special is that the author/illustrator, Fred Davis, studied drawing throughout his life and earned his Bachelor's degree in Illustration from the University of Arts in Philadelphia. His life took an unexpected turn in 2017 when he suffered a stroke. Fred was right handed and had to train his mind to use the left side of his body for everyday tasks and movements. All the art you see in this ABC book, was designed, illustrated, and colored by Fred with the use of his left hand.
