So: How do we or do we read Ares? We don't. We view instead: Look from the top down, do not scan linearly left to right or vice versa. Forget about grammar and syntax; visual symbols such as ideograms (picture letters) and hieroglyphs (sacred carvings or incisions) don't require inflection, case structure and the other hypotactic baggage of Indo-European and Semitic languages. But there is still negative capability: every picture is ambiguous, as it does not really represent anything except itself. Widen the space between your eyes, enlarge the old pupils, as they used to say in speed-reading class. Black lens up against page white. Start or stop anywhere - there's no
