The aim of this research was to study the processes of subjectivation and creation in architectural design from an inventive cognitive point of view, based on a post-structuralist contemporary politics of cognition centred on difference and not on an illusory identity between individuals. After a review of concepts used until then by theorists of design methods in the 20th century, and of paradigms of human cognition, from creative to inventive, this research took a turn that was enriched by the conceptual plans of contemporary philosophy and a less cognitivist psychology of creation.
