A book I'd buy for friends and family

The sub-title for this book says it best - Daily Reflections for Growing Christians. A growing Christian is what I always want to be, and I found this very easy-to-read devotional a great way to have a systematic method of reading the Word and learning daily. Divided into nine sections: The Lord God; The Bible; Christ; The Holy Spirit; Humankind and Sin; Salvation; the Church; Angels Satan, and Demons; and Last Things, the book covers each topic in 3 to 6 weeks of daily readings and offers the layperson an excellent springboard for more in-depth study. Within each section, each reading offers a glimpse of the overall topic, e.g., Section 1 readings include God is Spirit, The Names of God, and God is a Trinity; in Section 5 you can read Sin is Transgression and When a Christian Sins; while Section 9 includes What is the Rapture? and The Judgment Seat of Christ. Each day begins with a verse, moves to the author's commentary and ends with a one or two sentence "lesson" to be learned for the day. This is more than a feel-good devotional; it can help you grow in the Word. I've purchased several of these books and intend to purchase several more as gifts for family, friends and members of my Sunday School Bible Study Class.

One to buy for yourself and others

I bought this book the year it came out. I have read through it a couple times. When compared to other "devotionals" this book far surpasses anything I have ever read. Rather than a bunch of feel-good fluff, the daily readings in this book are inspiring and very educational for Christians of all spiritual levels. All in all, this is the best devotional I have ever seen. You will draw closer to God and learn more about Him and His works.
