Apologetics is not the art of apology. It has nothing to do with being sorry. It has everything to do with reason and thought. Especially as it has to do with Christianity. The internet says that apologetics is reasoned arguments about something controversial. It seems these days that following Jesus is controversial, so I guess it fits. But my rallying cry as to why people need to study apologetics (or at least have a bit of apologetics background)...
