I wrote this book to share with you my experience of going from being a boy that grew up on Long Island, safe, sheltered, and naive, to landing in a foreign country, learning a new language, adapting to a new culture, being self-reliant and succeeding. This book focuses on my 3 years in the Israeli Defense Forces and how it changed me and how I view and deal with life. Overall, despite the difficulties I experienced in those 11 years in Israel I also had many more experiences that brought me pride and enjoyment. I am thankful for those years that put me into contact with friends from all over the world and allowed me to travel and experience things that I might not otherwise have had.
