It gives a simple, concise, mathematical account of linear programming, and is an ideal introduction to the subject. The author concentrates on the simplex method, including a thorough consideration of the theory of duality in linear programming. The penultimate chapter is devoted to three well-known applications of theoretical interest - the transportation problem, the assignment problem and the theory of games. This second edition is enhanced by the addition of a final chapter on the ellipsoid method, and the revision of the section on Sensitivity Analysis.
