Great Introduction

Jones is an accomplished scholar who writes with much enthusiasm for his topics. All of Jones' works convey his love of the classics and a desire to get quality information about them disseminated into the public. This inexpensive volume is loaded with interesting information, I mean packed full. The books is arranged so that each chapter is like an essay on a topic. You will learn about the preservation of classical works. A contrast and comparison of Greece to the Ancient Near East is enlightening. The topics are really varied from romance to philosophy. The footnotes are located in the back of the book if you want more information. So I would have to say this book is a great introduction to the Classics arena, worthy every penny.
