An History Beside Time is a mythic-philosophical work on the Whole, the sundering of opposites, the birth of consciousness, and the inner labor by which a person becomes ordered rather than ruled by fragments.

From there, the cosmic drama becomes psychological. Man is shown as a microcosm: a realm of hunger, fear, mask, student, and institution. Within him, Fortune turns like a wheel, false kings rise, and the will toward the Good must become an axis strong enough to govern the house.
