An English Apocalypse: The Summer Haven I

Our world faced extermination by a group of infected meteoroids from space, which carried an infection that turned ordinary people into rabid killers. This is a record of how two estranged twin brothers survived the apocalypse. One brother planned for the survival of our species and made ready for the world to come on a small island in Scotland, persevering despite having to manage the utter disbelief of the people around him. The other, having survived a harrowing cacophony of life events, learned to harness his anger and channel it to help those who survived. Together they faced the abyss shoulder to shoulder. In the words of Paul Collin: If you were given advanced warning of a global world threatening event, what would you do? I am certainly not an influential or charismatic leader. How would you begin to plan for the beginning of a world's demise from the ground up, especially when you have had no germane experience to build upon? It is brutally hard to accept that there is only you that can do something meaningful in the face of a disaster on such a scale. When you engaged your friends, they would say you were insane once they realised that you weren't playing a joke upon them. Can you take significant action based upon what is simply a dream or a premonition? It defies all logic. How do you begin to persuade people that the world as you know it is about to end and they and their families need to turn their back on their lives, their careers, their homes and to join you in a quest to build some kind of leaky ark, in which to ride out the tidal wave of an impending catastrophe?What, in a lifetime of wonderful and bittersweet experiences, would ever prepare you for events such as these? You do what you must with the time given to you. I did some terrible things that I am not proud of, under extreme duress. Does it make me a bad person, when ultimately it led to the survival of our species? An impossible conundrum that could have broken me; on my bleaker days it nearly did. One thing that I have learnt in my life, is that change can only be brought about by embracing uncertainty and finding a path to bring talented people that you trust along on the journey together with you as equals and friends. Given the deception I was forced to employ, would my friends and family ever trust me again? Would it matter, if I saved them? But then what if it all proved to be a fantasy, a hopeless pipedream
