Book Overview

Barbara Metzger's enchanting tale of supernatural romance and second chances.

A ghostly beauty. A rakish earl drowning in debt. When love and redemption collide in Regency England, will their impossible romance save them both?

Miss Lucinda Faire never expected to die during her ill-fated elopement. Now she's caught between heaven and hell, tasked with saving the soul of Lord Kieren Somerfield, a charming but reckless earl. As she haunts his crumbling estate, Lucy discovers that beneath Kerry's roguish exterior lies a man worth saving--if only she can convince him to change his ways.

This sparkling Regency romance blends witty banter with supernatural twists, creating an unforgettable story of love that transcends mortality. From fox hunts gone hilariously wrong to midnight encounters in candlelit libraries, Metzger crafts a tale that balances humor with heart, while exploring themes of redemption, duty, and the transformative power of true love.

As Kerry battles mounting debts and societal pressure to marry an heiress, Lucy's time on earth grows short.

Can a ghost and an earl find their way to happiness?

Unique and Wonderful

A very different kind of book! I've never read anything like this one before! Not so perfect, not quite dead Lucinda is on a mission to save a soul from Hell -- her own! But to do this she must reform a rake (Kerry), who in the end was not so bad. This book was so interesting, I finished it in a day. And it brought tears to my eyes in the end. Unique way of showing how Kerry's backsliding affects the "angel" Lucinda -- her clothing (or lack of) is the indicator! Well worth reading - and a KEEPER!! P.S. I don't think what Lucinda did was bad enough to put her in Hell ... but then there would be no story!!

The only Regency romance I've read more than once.

This is a surprisingly charming book. The heroine is fine but the hero is the interesting character as an unabashed rake with a secret heart of gold. It's an offbeat regency but well worth the read.
