Ambulances and Angels

Ambulances and Angels is a true story, written by God and told by me. It is the story of a life with its ups and downs, joys and sorrows, God's grace and mercy, and encounters with Ambulances and Angels along the way.

"We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps." Proverbs 16:9 (NLT)

As I look back on my life, I can see how God directed my steps. I know this because I had my own plans for life that were different than God's. Guess whose plans prevailed Personal encounters with Ambulances and Angels have characterized the seasons of my life; times of sadness and happiness, times of stress and times of peace, times of doing without, and times of plenty. I have always wanted God to reveal His plans for my future on Earth, but He has never done so. I think He didn't reveal His plans to test my faith. If He had shown His plans to me, I probably would have tried to change them. It would have been like the clay telling the potter what to do.

The book is divided into years of history beginning in 1948 with 8 years of history recorded in each chapter. Notable world history during each 8 year period is chronicled at the end of each chapter. People born in my generation have witnessed a historical transition from analog to digital, from slide rules to computers, from ironing to permanent press. from dial phones and phone booths to cell phones. From military helicopters to unmanned drones, from natural food to GMO's. from fans to air conditioners, from clotheslines to clothes dryers, from physical libraries to online libraries to artificial intelligence, from black-and-white TV with only a few local stations to color TV with multiple stations, streaming video, and a myriad of other changes too numerous to mention.

And God has not changed. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" Hebrews 13:8 (BSB)

At the end of the book is an Appendix that shares the letters written to my new wife of only six months from Vietnam. The letters are shared verbatim. There are also a few letters that my wife sent to me, but most of the letters that she sent to me were blown up in Vietnam.
