Book Overview

The head strong child of Chandos Straton and Courtney Harte, Casey Straton inherited her mother's eyes and her father's stubborn temperament. Despite her unladylike prowess at roping, riding and shooting, the responsibility of running her late grandfather's ranch was given to Casey's older brother. She's a beautiful young woman of marrying age, Chandos tells his daughter, and she should be looking to settle down--which only infuriates Casey, sending the high-spirited hellion storming away from her Texas home, determined to prove to her family that she can do much more than "woman's work." Damian Rutledge III has left his home far behind as well. A successful New York businessman, he used important connections to gain a U.S. Deputy's badge. And now he has come west to kill the man who murdered his father. But despite his powerful physique and unwavering courage, the handsome Eastern "dude" is like a fish out of water in the untamed and unpredictable country. And his inability to handle a shooting iron would have cost him his life at the hands of two desperate outlaws if it weren't for the timely intervention of a half-pint bounty hunter called "Kid"--a youngster whose cool head and lightning-fast draw Damian quickly decides will be valuable assets in his hunt for his father's killer. But there is more to Kid than first meets the eye. For beneath a large hat and dusty poncho, and behind two blazing six-guns, is a stunningly sensuous young lady: Casey Straton. And despite Casey's resolve to maintain her disguise at all costs, the nearness of this proud, fearless and undeniably masculine gentleman has awakened the fires of her womanly passions and touched her vulnerable, aching heart--which could lead to serious complications on a rocky trail that winds dangerous duty to irrepressible love. What did you read?!

I love this book. I read it for the first time a while back, and it stayed with me enough to make me buy it. I loved "A Heart So Wild", and I think this was a fitting sequel. People are complaining about how Chandos wouldn't have let her go in the first place, but it seems to escape them that Chandos's daughter would have more than a small idea of what she wanted to do and the abilities to do it. Casey is very strong willed, but that's something most Lindsey readers expect. She can do anything a man can do, and that's something else I've come to expect. I love her stories because I can see myself in a lot of the heroines, and this one doesn't disappoint.

The Sequel to A Heart So Wild....and wild it is!

All I Need Is You is the sequel to A Heart So Wild, and what a sequel it is too! The first book traces the romance of the parents, Chandos Straton and Courtney Harte, the sequel is the story of one of their children, their daughter, Casey. To prove to her father that she is capable of running a major family ranching interest, Casey decides to take employment doing what a man can do. She thus becomes a bounty hunter and is hired by Damian Rutledge to track his father's murderer. It is an exciting tale, filled with humor and great plot development. But perhaps, one of the more satisfying things is reading about the parents again, so deftly described in the first novel. This is another of Ms. Lindsey's demonstrations of expert writing. It is hard to put this book down, and it is a most enjoyable read.

A truly fun read!

This book was fresh and exciting. I did not know there was a prequel, so now I am going to run out and grab it. Give it a try!

Johanna Lindsey still has the gift

How can readers say that a book is a page skipper then complain that the plot isn't fully developed? Hello, you have to read the book. And as for the remarks about having Damien portrayed as a 'tenderfoot' - if a man has no weaknesses then that is an undeveloped character. I was throughly delighted by this book and I have returned to it many times to reread, if fact I have the audiotapes in my car for trips. Johanna Lindsey still has her gift of writing - unfortunately some readers no longer take the time to read the entire book.
