Owen, Reuben, Alex and Bailey Work for a soda manufacturer in California. After an earthquake, the soda pop company fizzes up and explodes, just as any can of soda would under those conditions. The boys find themselves out of work and so, with their knowledge of musical instruments, decide to become a rock band and go on tour. Instead of buying a tour bus they decide to purchase a hot rod Magna A-1 (I've never heard of it, I think it's made up). And so the tour begins, with actually less touring and performing and more weird and unusual things happening. Darwin, a murderer, escapes execution and the gas chamber by asking for a cigarette as a last and final request, thus causing the entire prison to explode (gas explodes, get it?). Darwin then works with Ivan washington, and later Jim Freeman (We don't find that out until half way through the book). to have little old ladies unknowingly fill bags of potato chips with poisonious air (bags of chips have a lot of air, get it?). While Darwin is busy chasing Owen, Reuben, Alex and Bailey, who have now named their band The Oxy-Morons, the four lads are continuing on unaware and meeting unusual characters like the Echo Bandits, named that because the lead bandit is deaf and each of the other bandits must repeat themselves over and over almost like an echo. As the Oxy-Morons escape the Echo Bandits, we hear novel comments such as: "I hope the sun turns the desert sand into glass and your horses slip!" The Oxy-Morons continue on their tour across the U.S. and invent a vending machine vest, complete with snack cakes and further comments about how if Little Debbie threw a party she would be a Hostess! (that's kind of funny). They also invent a hologram of themselves to play as small units on restaurant tables for a couple of quarters then used later to enhance video production. Holograms of Owen, Reuben, Alex and Bailey help save their own lives in a daring rescue! The Oxy-Morons learn of Darwin and Jim Freeman and the fact that they're being chased and have Darwin step into a time machine, which is really just a normal everyday box, and transport him one minute into the future. While he's in the box, naturally, they make their capture and go on to rescue the little old ladies. I gave this book four stars because it does have a great imagination, but there is a lot going on and you can get confused. You may have to read it a couple of times, but I'll bet if you do read it more than once you'll learn something new!
Very Fun!

The villian in this book is Darwin (I guess G.L. Strytler does not believe in evolution Ha Ha). He has a partner in crime Ivan Washington, and they are having little old ladies fill bags of potato chips with poisoned air. Another villian is Jim Freeman who's only in on it part time! I like the part where Darwn is sent to the gas chamber and blows the whole prison apart by lighting a cigarette. I don't know if that kind of gas would explode but it's pretty funny, and then Darwin escapes by climbing out of the rubble.
These guys are as cute as a button!

Owen is the leader and I'd follow him anywhere! Rueben is just out rite hot, what more can I say! Alex is as cute as a button and I've always had a thing for drummers in a band! Bailey is fun, though I've never had a thing for red hair on a guy (Except for Ron Weasley). I guess that means he's spunky!;) What would we do without boys, hmm?!
Terrific imagination!

This wonderful book reminds me more of something Weird Al Yankovic would come up with, meaning that's it's probably more weird than out right funny (not in an absract way). If you have ever heard one of Weird Al's CDs you'll know what I'm talking about! You'll definitely chuckle with this book; as Owen, Rueben, Alex and Bailey chase their drive-by-itself car about the nation. Rock on!
Way cool!

This book is funnier than the first! The boys form a boy band and go on tour. It's not so much about music as it is meeting weird characters and having funny experiences like working in a soda factory that fizzes up and explodes during an earthquake in california! Funny!
