A visual guide to learning photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop Creative Techniques covers the follow topics: Selection Tools and Methods, Painting, Painting Modes, Working with Layers, Working with Channels, Resolution, Retouching Images, Image and Color Correction, Color Management, Type Treatments, Drawing, Prepress, and File Formats. I found this book essential in learning the basics of photoshop. The author demonstrates 126 techniques and each technique begins with his high-level comments, studio usage, and related topics. The techniques are usually described on one page. The photo of the final affects is a puzzle to be unraveled for advancing students. If I were teaching photoshop too college students, I would start with this book. I found the notes on channels, masks, and filters very helpful. Other interesting topics were half-tones, sharpen and unsharpen, levels, curves, paths, and color selection. If you do a lot of work with photographs than the color correction topics will be valuable.
