It is really hard, and I would say really unfair to ask an bookwright what their book is about. I wrote the synopsis on the back cover: "The first book in the God of Games series. The board was set, and the pieces moving. Great opponents had been brought to play the game, and like all expert players, to break the rules. The God of Games surely sat somewhere watching; amused at the movement of life on his beautiful world." That doesn't really do it justice. It's about a right of passage story of a young man at University who doesn't really know what he wants to do with his life until his world explodes. It's about a wizard and his apprentice. It's about an event that changes the world forever. I like that last one, but it could be about any of that. The world is between wars. There's a lot of leftover technology, but most of the buildings from the last wave of industry have been reduced to rubble. Two walls that were built to sustain peace still stand dividing the southern portion of the island into three distinct countries. This is where the God of Games has set up his next course of entertainment. He created a demigod to battle a wizard that he borrowed from another god entirely. This book covers the winning of that game. This is the first book in the god of games series, but it's the first book on this world. It is where I show you the world and characters that will reappear. It's an introduction to me and the style and voice of this series. The book is for entertainment, and I sincerely hope that you enjoy it.
