Freddie Montgomery's life has been quite eventful to say the least. Her life story is captured in her previous book "The Life of a Girl Called Fred". In this book Freddie takes the reader through the stages in her life when at the age of nineteen she enlisted in the Women's Royal Army Corp, and a year later she was sent to Berlin after the war. This is where this book commences. Her life and exploits have been subject to interviews and broadcasts in the past.
Her life and adventures during the "cold war" behind the "iron curtain" are contained in this book with actual everyday amazing photos taken during her time in Berlin. Each photo (of which there are well over 100) support the stories where Freddie takes the reader through an amazing journey and describes her exploits and adventures during her time in post-war Berlin 1947 - 1952.
Upon leaving the army, she went into business and then on to lecturing, she retired from lecturing at the age of 60 to become a minister in the Church of England where she remained until her retirement in 2018 aged 90. Freddie now happily lives in Suffolk at the grand young age of 97.
