A Visual Guide to Carnatic Ragas

In this book, we provide a completely new approach to understanding all types of Carnatic ragas. We introduce a "visual representation" of each raga on a circular keyboard, with the arohanam shown on the left side and the avarohanam shown on the right side. On the sides of the circular keyboard, the swara notes of the associated Melakarta raga are shown. With this "visual guide", it should be possible to see the raga pattern in its arohanam and avarohanam , and to identify any bhashanga or foreign notes in the raga. This visual format also allows for similar ragas to be compared, showcasing the unique fragrances and subtleties of each raga.
