TEIXEIRA'S FIRST BOOK IS A WINNER!

This is one great sci-fi book that introduces readers to a compelling and evocative world where manufactured beings (tubies) are a commodity and advertising has crossed the line into something close to mind-control with mood-altering perfume sprays into crowds of people and skyscraper size holograms filling every page.Teixeira will keep you riveted to this book until the final page.Worth every penny and hour spent.

Review of Virtual Soul

Review of Virtual SoulKevin Texeira is his new book "Virtual Soul" has created one of the most compelling works in our time. Virtual Soul goes beyond the work earlier Cyperpunk. Earlier literature in the "Cyber Genre" tried to make sense of technological advances and their impact to society, but they often fell short. Virtual Soul, however, is a complete work, integrating the technological direction of today with a chilling look to the future. Teixeira's concept of a Tubie, a preprogrammed, human-like, Vatgrown creature to serve humans resonates on several levels. The plot flows with technological direction of today's "multipurpose devices", Software programs that think for you, trends in "artificial intelligence", and the direction of biogenetics. Aren't the technological advances of today going to end up being biological? How long will it be before technology and biology are one?The novel demonstrates the ability of technology to Empower people and also to Unempower people, as shown with the Tubies. Where are the limits for the corporations that create technology that change our lives? Texeira's concepts of Intellectual Property being the key commodity of the future are dead-on. Previous works in this genre failed to connect where technology is going and the impact of how we live. Who hasn't sat in their modern workspace cubicle and wondered about the direction technology is going and what our lives will be like in the future? The "Tubies" in Texeira's book illustrate two very powerful things: Intellectual Property is what the future is all about, and that in many ways the Tubies are us. This book is a moving Epic, a compelling adventure, a love story, and a polemic for the future all rolled up into one. What Blade Runner was to film, Virtual Soul is to literature. This novel is a real treat and the best question to ask after reading it is, "When is Kevin Teixeira coming out with another book?"
