Oh what a tangled web we weave, When first we practice to deceive!

This was a fun romance read. Although not really a continuation of the first two books in the series,it does fine as a stand-alone book. Those who like myself have found themselves becoming a fan of Tracie Peterson will be pleased with this book, as well.

THE WESTWARD CHRONICLES is a delightful three-book series set around The Harvey House, an establishment offering fine dining along the stops of frontier rail travel. Each book highlights a Harvey Girl and the circumstances and situations that brought them to serve at the Harvey House. Originally published in 1999-2000, THE WESTWARD CHRONICLES were re-packaged in 2005. A sucker for the Old West, I enjoyed the simple charm of these books and the loveable characters created by Tracie Peterson.

Veiled Reflections - Harvey Girls

The Harvey Girl novels by Tracie Peterson are delightful and charming. Tracie has researched the Harvey Girls history and traveled to the places where Harvey Girls worked. ?Tracie's enthusiasm for the Harvey Girls is quite rare and she definitely knits many facets of history in her latest book Veiled Reflections. Tracie also gives a true characterization of the Harvey Girls lives and Christian ethics.

It is never as easy as it seems.......

It amazes me how Tracie Peterson can take an old story line (twins switching places) put them in an already used setting (Harvey House girls) and create a brand new, wonder what will happen next story! I have enjoyed all of Ms. Peterson's books and this one is no exception. This series is excellent. So often writers of series tend to tell too much of the same stuff in each book or make you wonder what the story has to do with the series at all. All of Tracie's stories are fresh, interesting and will keep you up reading until you finish, then make you wish for the next one right away. Keep up the good work!

Compelling intrigue, romance and living with deceipt!

A Veiled Reflection is the third book in the series about the Harvey House girls and this one is superb! Jillian agrees to pretend to be her twin sister, Judith and this starts her life in Arizona off on the wrong foot - that of living in deceipt. She obviously has trouble performing like her trained sister and runs into a few people who know the difference. When she falls in love, she is sure it is one-sided. The man she loves has a secret past and refuses to love again. The Navajo Indians are represented in this book and are loved and ministered to by one old lady, Mary. Prejudice and hatred show their ugly faces even between civilized white people who think they are Christians. A few refuse to be drug into the garbage and end up being forced to take a stand. This is excellent reading, good for making some religious and political stands, and romantically it is suberb!
