He is a founding board member of the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine, a biotech and healthcare nonprofit which has grown to serve over 400 members in 25 countries. He has helped form a $1 million Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise alternative loan fund, and served as CEO of a regional economic non-profit, providing entrepreneurial education, mentoring and seed stage funding to start-ups. As a writer of competitive grants and contract proposals, he has helped raise over $60 million in foundation, corporate and government (local, state, federal) funding for three Bay Area social service nonprofits, a role which gives him a unique perspective on the nonprofit trifecta of feasibility, viability and sustainability, plus winning strategies for program innovation. Additionally, he has assisted regional and statewide nonprofits with economic development funding from foundations and federal agencies. In the private sector, he has consulted with over 1,800 start-ups and small business clients in over 40 different industries, ranging from medical devices to transportation equipment, in emerging sectors like nanotechnology, cloud computing and regenerative medicine. A published poet, short story writer, and essayist, Jon has independently published 40 books on Amazon, including creative work and a series of six writing guides. He holds a B.A. in English from Westmont College, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has taught courses at Alamance Community College, Central Carolina Community College, Guilford Technical Community College, Piedmont Community College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
