Hester found herself able to push through the misogyny of the time to run her own life and business in the bustle of Brisbane. How a woman, born and bred in the remote Tambo bush, came to be living a city life, in the jazz age, always intrigued the family. Hester Jane McDonough lived in the last century but was a woman of our time.
