Frankly, I'm surprised

I'm surprised that this book edited by John Board has had no prior reviews. It is an excellent book containing rare accounts by well known people of recent centuries. They speak candidly of teachers who meant a great deal in their lives and why. Can you recall a teacher who taught you effectively? Can you remember a teacher who became a friend? Is there a teacher whose life was in some way an inspiration or motivator in your life? If there is no one, I feel for you. I am not saying that great teachers are common--to the contrary, they are a somewhat rare and precious species. But when a teacher has glimpsed, fully understood, what a crucial role he or she can play in lives, that individual is never the same again. I hope teachers will read this book and catch that vision. I also hope that students or former students will read it and appreciate their teachers more, especially those who truly care about their pupils and wish to influence their lives for the good. You won't regret reading this book.
