Letitia Marsden had decided that men were not to be trusted. Then she met Dr. Jason Mourik van Nie, and he changed her mind. Learning to trust again wasn't easy for either of them. This time, Letitia vowed, there would be a happy ending. But then Jason got the wrong idea about one of her male friends.... Could a chance meeting set it right? Surely fate wasn't going to let a simple misapprehension stand in the way of true love?
If you haven't sampled Betty Neels yet, she specializes in British nurses falling in love with Dutch doctors. In this one, Letitia reluctantly falls for Jason even though she's down on men after a failed romance. Circumstances keep throwing Jason and Letitia (Tish) together, aided by her friend, Georgina. If you missed Georgina's story, she's featured in Damsel in Green. Various misunderstandings keep Tish and Jason apart, but there are pleasant family scenes, a mishap with a dangerous bull, a trip to Holland and other mild adventures to keep the reader interested. Lovely descriptions and good character development are the hallmarks of Betty Neels' romances.

This was one of BN'S better stories and I really liked it! After being jilted, Letitia decided she's had it with men and that they were not to be trusted, ie, until she meets the charming dutch doctor, Jason, who changes her mind about men. Only she accidently over-heard him say that he wouldn't date her. Hurt, she turns her attention to Karel, who being the nice guy that he is, accepts her attention and then dumps all his love problems on her. Unfortunately, Jason, gets the wrong idea and thinks she cares about Karel and so it goes on... The hero in this story is far more out-going then one normally finds in BN stories and I really liked it. And of course there is the mis-understanding to give it that wee bit of tension. Another different take in that the hero gets jealous and thinks the heroine prefers someone else. And it was nice to catch up with Juluis and Georgina from 'Damsel in Green', and there's a whole lot of warmth in their relationship too. Really enjoyed this bk.
