Building Delight with A Rebellious House

At times it's hard to find a book that is gently entertaining, like a comfortable swing on the porch with old friends. The setting of "A Rebellious House" is a retirement complex in the lush Virginia countryside, Wynfield Farms. The retirees are for the most part aging gracefully while they cope, and enjoy, the later years of life. The pleasantly energetic atmosphere is primarily due to Rose McNess, a widow who wants an independent life, without being a burden to her children and grandchildren. Accompanied by her Scottish terier, Max, she befriends newcomers, writes a witty newsletter and looks our for those less fortunate in their mental and physical abililties. Author Barbara M. Dickinson has provided pen and ink illustrations to accompany the lively text. Her imagination is full of fun, and you will enjoy your visit to "A Rebellious House."

Heartwarming

With all the bad news about nursing homes, along comes a retirement home set in the beautiful Virginia countryside where a group of retired people who no longer want to keep house but want the amenities of a home seem to be having a fantastic time.
